San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced today that its international packaging business, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging International Limited (SMYPIL) through its new Australian subsidiar, SMYV Pty Ltd, has completed the acquisition of Vinocor Worldwide Direct Pty. Ltd. (Vinocor).
Vinocor is a market leader in the supply of corks and closures for wine bottles in Australia, with facilities and operations based in Adelaide, South Australia.
"The acquisition will enable our packaging business to tap the expanding premium wine markets in Australia and New Zealand. Vinocor will complement our current packaging operations, the Cospak Group, in both countries," says SMC President and Chief Operating Officer, Ramon S. Ang.
SMC's packaging business, San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation (SMYPC), is the biggest packaging company in the Philippines and also operates facilties in China, Malaysia and Vietnam through SMYPIL.
SMYPC and SMYPIL are joint ventures of SMC and Nihon Yamamura Glass Co. Ltd. of Japan.
